KHAIRPUR: A gang of armed men attempted to kidnap a female student of the Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur on Thursday.
They said seven men stopped a university bus at gunpoint on the national highway near Ranipur and attempted to kidnap a female student. Fellow students foiled the abduction bid. Seven of the girls were injured while putting up resistance to the alleged kidnappers.
The brave girls undeterred by the armed attackers in reaction resisted the attempt to abduct them. They foiled the criminals bid but in their forceful resistance, seven of the girls were injured. Police said one of the accused, Safdar Wasan, is a university student, who along with his friends stopped the bus and tried to abduct the students. The police said accused Safdar was interested only in one girl student, Khushboo Bhatti, and tried to abduct her but failed.
Meanwhile, the fellow girl students were enraged at the incident and they staged a sit-in on the national highway at Ranipur. According to the police, the injured students have been shifted to a hospital and the area has been cordoned off to hunt down the accused.
