Tank: Another policeman providing security to the polio staff in Tank on Sunday fell prey to the terrorists’ bullet while his colleague injured in the incident.

According to details, some unknown terrorists opened fire on polio security teams in Garah Shada village in Tank and martyred a cop and injured his colleague. After the incident, the security forces reached the venue and combed the area in search for the assailants.

In a similar incident in Garah Chaddar in Tank yesterday, the terrorists martyred a policeman and injured another. They were providing security to a two-woman polio team. The polio cops were performing their duty when the gunmen on a motorbike ambushed them. One policeman was seriously wounded and later succumbed to injuries while another was rushed to a hospital.

Later, the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban claimed responsibility and put the death toll at two, according to a statement from spokesman Muhammad Khurasani. They accused security forces of killing some of their fighters and violating the one-month truce.

The militants on Friday ended a truce mediated with the help of the Afghan Taliban, accusing the government of violating the terms of the agreement. In an audio message released late Friday, the group’s leader Noor Wali Mehsud said no progress had been made in negotiations with Pakistan’s government.
