Ahmed calls on authorities to conduct an inquiry in PWD

QUETTA: Khalil Ahmed, President, APCA, Population Welfare Department (PWD), Balochistan, has called on authorities to conduct impartial inquiry into the irregularities being committed in Population Welfare Department.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said that PWD had reached to the verge of ruination as supply of contraceptive medicines to the FWC, MSU and RHC of the department had not been ensured during the last 3-4 months.

Ahmed said that a delegation of All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), Population Welfare Department had several time brought the issue into the notice of high-ups in black and white, but no action had so far been taken. He added that although payment of Rs. 03 crore to the concerned firm for supply of contraceptive medicines to the department had been made before June, 2021 yet the concerned firm had failed to ensure the supply of contraceptive medicines to the department.

He added that apart from that, neither the supply of general medicines amounting to Rs. 01 crore and 80 lac had been ensured to the department nor the record of procuring general medicines for the department was available in the department, adding that an amount of Rs. 01 crore and 80 lac had also been paid to the concerned firm before June, 2020 without supplying general medicines to Population Welfare Department, Balochistan.

Ahmed said that money had also been drawn fraudulently from other heads of the department during the financial year 2020-21. He said that the department was to pay Rs. 02 lac and 80 thousand to Balochistan Stationary besides being the debtor of Mechanics of different garages and petrol pumps.

He called on authorities to conduct impartial inquiry into the irregularities being committed in Population Welfare Department, Balochistan so that all the facts with regard to the irregularities being committed in PWD, Balochistan could be divulged.
