KHAIRPUR: Six people were killed and seven others injured in firing between two groups in katcha area near Khairpur Mirs on Tuesday.

According to police, the clash occurred between two groups of Narejo and Mangnejo communities in the katchha area along Indus River within the jurisdiction of Baradi Jatoi police station in taluka Pir jo Goth near Khairpur Mirs. Both groups exchanged intense fire with sophisticated weapons that resulted in death of six people identified as Ahmed, Ali Mangnejo, Dilbar Mangeno, Nazir Ahmed Narejo, Mumtaz Narejo, Umar Narejo. Seven villagers were injured in the firing.

According to SSP Khairpur Zafar Iqbal Malik, the clash occurred over the theft of an electric motor, adding a big conetgency of police was deployed in the troubled area, however, the situation was now under control. Police shifted the bodies and the injured to a local hospital. No case could be lodged till filing this news. A tense situation prevailed in the area amid the mourning atmosphere.
