FAISALABAD: A police constable was killed when he was run over by a speeding dumper while he was helping the people with lifting the car out of the ravine at Dijkot, Faisalabad, police said Sunday.

A large number of police jawans and officers, including RPO Imran Mehmood, CPO Ghulam Mubashar Mekan, SSP Investigation Muhammad Ajmal and SSP Operations Abdullah, attended the funeral prayers of Basharat Ali, the deceased constable, at Police Lines, Faisalabad.

Prior to the funeral, a police contingent presented a salute to the dead cop, while police officers, present on the occasion, also showered praise on him. The Inspector General of Police, Punjab, in his message, has also paid tributes to Basharat. Police said they had registered the case against the dumper driver.
