Biometric verification must for Zakat beneficiaries: CM aide

QUETTA: Advisor to CM Sindh on Religious Affairs and Zakat and Ushr Fayyaz Ali Butt has said that biometric verification is a must for Zakat beneficiaries to ensure transparency and to eliminate ghost beneficiaries of Zakat. This he said while talking to a delegation of Sindh Bank here on Wednesday in his office.

On this occasion, Secretary Religious Affairs and Zakat and Ushr Ghulam Abbas Detho, Administrator Noor Ahmed Chachar, representatives of Sindh Bank Zeeshan Ul Haq, Syed Aza Hussain and Syed Asad Ali Shah were also present. The meeting was briefed that almost one lac and ten thousand people were zakat beneficiaries in Sindh and Rs. 1.5 billion was being distributed annually among zakat deserving people.

Butt said that through bio metric verification it would be ensured that deserving people were getting zakat and fake people would be discouraged. He added, ‘ It is our prime duty to distribute Zakat to deserving persons and in this regard all efforts must be made to achieve the target’. He said that Sindh government was committed to help out poor people through transparent distribution of Zakat.
